What is an atmospheric water generator, and how does SkyTap work?
It pulls moisture out of the surrounding air and condenses it into liquid water using a refrigeration cycle, then cleans that water through several filtration stages and UV sterilisation. The unit runs off a standard electrical connection and needs no plumbing or municipal water connection while it's generating from air.
Can it purify my existing tap water too?
Yes. Every unit takes an external supply — tap, borehole or stored water — and runs it through the same internal filtration system. That means the machine stays useful as a purifier and hot-and-cold dispenser even when the air is too dry for efficient generation.
How much water will I actually get per day?
Rated figures are measured at 30°C and 80% relative humidity, which is a warm humid day. Real output moves with temperature, humidity and airflow. The 80L unit, for example, is tested at roughly 50 litres a day at 27°C and 60% humidity, and around 11 litres at 25°C and 30% humidity. On dry days you can switch to purification mode and feed it from the tap — that's exactly why both modes exist. We break the full output curve down, with real Johannesburg humidity data, in this guide.
Do you deliver nationwide, and do I need to arrange anything?
We deliver anywhere in South Africa, direct to your address. There's no showroom and nothing for you to collect. Freight, import duties and customs clearance are handled by us. We confirm delivery timing with you directly once your order is placed.
How does pricing work for several units or a business order?
The listed prices are single-unit starting references. Multi-unit, office, estate and reseller orders are quoted individually, because the per-unit cost improves with quantity and shifts with your delivery location and current freight rates. Send through the five details in the Business section above and we'll price it accurately.
What does SkyTap Care actually cover?
R299 per machine per month covers scheduled replacement of routine filtration components, filter reminders and scheduling, an annual inspection, annual cleaning and sanitisation, technical support, priority after-sales help, a maintenance record for your machine, and better pricing on parts and repairs that fall outside the warranty. Major components, accidental damage and out-of-warranty repairs are quoted separately.
What's the warranty, and should I insure it?
Two years on core components, including the compressor. It's worth adding the unit to your home or business contents insurance once it's delivered — that covers the things a warranty never does, like theft, power surges and flooding.
I rent. Can I still use one?
Yes. There's no plumbing, no installation and no modification to the property. It stands on the floor and plugs into a normal socket, so nothing needs your landlord's approval, and it comes with you when you move.
